The new 'Summer of Love' collection feels my most personal yet. The prints are immediately nostalgic to me, triggering memories of 70s prints, my mum's maxi dresses and that boho glamour that beguiled me as a little girl...
My sister and I would spend our weekends as children, knee deep in white sand, splashing around in crystal water chasing jelly fish, and diving off junks (a type of boat) anchored off the islands in Hong Kong. My early childhood years were spent much like this; beautifully slow and rich with experience. Our explorer parents led us to new and exotic places, like Saudi Arabia where we also lived and spent afternoons swimming with little fish nibbling at our toes (this was before it became a beauty trend!).
Fast-forward to adulthood and the decades I’ve spent as a fashion buyer was of deliberate design so that I could do more of what I had become accustomed to; travel and exploration. This wanderlust seems to stem from an almost genetic disposition which took me inter-railing across Europe as a teenager. My deep curiosity and love of hunting and gathering unusual things led me to India which has now become my creative and spiritual touchstone.
The exoticism and earthy anchor of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan in India, lures my inner rebel and bohemian love for fabric, texture, colour and evocative symbolism.
This 'Summer of Love' collection is a visualisation of all these memories and experience - the traditional artistry of Rajhasthan, the boho glamour of my 70s childhood - bought into the 21st century with modern colourways that make them feel current and wearable for the modern women I am surrounded and inspired by...
Meet the 'Summer of Love' Collection:
First up - the sleeveless, paisley print maxi dress. Hand-screen printed by our artisans in Jaipur, with handmade tassels and a gorgeous lavender and navy print. It's a great, floaty day dress with sandals on holiday, or belted with wedges for a more glam look.
Our beautiful, feminine colourway for summer is this Jaipur pink and cornflower blue print tunic with beautiful bracelet length sleeves and handmade tassels. It's the perfect floaty, knee-length style for over a bikini or with jeans on cooler days.
Quick! Our signature Dilli Grey turquoise and grey maxi dress is almost sold out! We previewed it at our June pop-up in West London and it was snapped up by shoppers and bloggers alike. Like all our designs, they are hand-printed in small runs for us by our artisans in Jaipur and we've got a feeling this is going to be the print of the summer!
By popular demand, we've created our signature boho print in a top for SS18. This pretty floral has been updated in purple, this summer's hottest shade. With billowy sleeves in our super soft cotton voile, it's a great pop of colour with white trousers.
So what do you think? I'd love to hear your reactions on which is your favourite? Let me know!
