Our Suzani blankets and cushions are consciously sourced by our vintage textile expert in Jaipur, then hand-picked by founder Vickie El-Rayyes for quality and colour. Suzani embroidery is a generalised term for many forms of tribal textile embroidery from across Central and Southern Asia. It is traditionally done on a cotton or silk base, with cotton thread and one blanket is usually a patchwork of panels worked on by individual family members. Patterns and motifs vary, depending on the cultural origin of the work - from trailing vines to fruit, astrological symbols and animals. One blanket can take months to create, depending on the intricacy of the embroidery and due to the beauty of their handmade nature, no two are the same. They can be used as bed coverings, sofa throws, or wall hangings - a true piece of textile art to cherish.
