Dilli Grey Meets: Photographer, Puneet Yadav
This summer we invited our location photographer, Puneet Yadav who we work with in Jaipur to capture content for us when we are there to tell us more about his work and share some insider tips on where to stay, visit and eat in The Pink City. We are also selling some of Puneet's incredible prints as a first UK exclusive - capturing some of 'India's Icons', from the more famous Taj Mahal, to lessen known off-the-beaten track locations.
Where do you live and work?
I have lived and worked in Jaipur for the last 16 years; I also go out and do photographic tours in Agra, Udaipur, Jodhpur Bundi and other locations around Rajasthan.

How did you get into photography?
Photography has been my passion for many years but in the last 3 years I've made it my focus, alongside being an AirBnB host, I offer photographic tours and location shoots with international travellers visiting India.
What type of photography do you specialise in?
I love landscape and architecture photography, so most of my content is around the travel theme.
Which photographers do you admire?
I love the work and style of many people but to name a few - Erika Hobart @erikaexplores, Jord @jordhammond and Karl Shakur @karl_shakur (pictured)
What do you love to do in Jaipur when you’re not working?
I'm mostly with my family if I'm not working, or I love to go out and explore old markets in the city and try some street food in the evening.
Can you share your favourite places to shoot in Rajasthan?
That's a difficult thing to choose as all the places are unique! However I love shooting at The Royal Gaitore (pictured) and in the mountains around the Amer fort.
Can you give us 5 insider tips on where to eat, visit and stay in Jaipur?
My top 5 eating spots would be Niro's, Chokhi Dhani, Veranda at the Taj Rambagh, Hanuman Dhaba and Cafe Palladio.
To visit around Jaipur my must-see top 5 would be Amer fort and the surrounding mountains, Samode Palace, The Royal Gaitore, City Palace, the markets and streets in the old part of the Pink City. I always recommend the following places to stay: Taj Rambagh, Alsisar Havelli, Samode Havelli and Sujjan Raj Mahal.Who are your favourite Indian Instagram accounts?

Where would you love to travel next outside of India?
I would love to go to Turkey & Iran, Uzbekistan, Bali & Hawaii.
How have you managed to work creatively during lockdown?
This has been a challenge to keep motivated during lockdown as travel has been the worst-hit industry; however, I have managed to create a virtual tour of Jaipur which I'm hosting with Airbnb Online Experiences. This is a fun way to travel around from the Pink City from the comfort and safety of your own home. It's great for people who know and love India and want a nostalgic trip around places they have previously visiting, or for those planning a trip to the city who want an insider's guide and tips on where to visit.
What would be your top tip to someone visiting India for the first time?
I would suggest they don't prepare too much, just come with an open heart to experience things first hand. There would only be two possibilities that you would love it or hate it and in most of the cases I have experienced, people fall in love with incredible India.
