Winter rest, rituals & little joys

Winter Rest, Rituals & Little Joys

By Vickie

Intro

As the rhythm of the seasons shifts and the light fades earlier each afternoon, I’ve found myself craving a gentler pace. Winter has a way of asking us quietly, insistently to soften. To take stock. To let ourselves rest without guilt.

Like so many of us, I’ve been carrying a lot lately… juggling work, family, creativity, responsibilities, all while trying to stay grounded in an increasingly busy world. It’s no wonder our bodies plead for a pause.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been carving out pockets of calm wherever I can: early nights, long baths, slow cups of tea, nourishing books and podcasts, and a bit more journaling. And surrounding myself with things that feel comforting and crafted with intention.

A New Arrival: Organic Hand Block Printed Quilts

We’ve just received a fresh delivery of our hand block printed organic quilts in two soft, restful colourways. Crafted in Jaipur using traditional wooden blocks and organic cotton, they’re pieces made to soothe.

These quilts feel like a warm exhale — perfect for layering on the bed, curling up on the sofa, or gifting to someone who needs a little comfort this winter.

What I’m Reading: Wintering by Katherine May

One of my favourite discoveries this season has been the book Wintering by Katherine May. It has been such a comfort in these darker months.

Although it speaks to winter, it’s really about the deeper “winter seasons” in our lives, the moments of quiet, reflection, transition and healing. Katherine May writes with a gentleness that encourages slowing down, journaling, and welcoming introspection rather than resisting it.

If you’re in need of something nourishing and reflective, I can’t recommend it enough.

What I’m Listening To: Winter Well — BBC Radio 4 / BBC Sounds

Another beautiful recommendation I’ve been loving is the “Winter Well” series on BBC Radio 4 (also on BBC Sounds). It explores how to care for ourselves emotionally, physically and creatively during winter.

I’ve been listening while working in the boutique or walking, and each episode feels like a warm, reassuring companion through the season.

Creating Space to Rest

Winter doesn’t need to be endured — it can be embraced. A time to restore, to nurture ourselves, and to reflect on what’s truly important.

If you’re looking to bring more calm into your home or routines, I hope the new quilts, a beautiful book recommendation, and a nourishing listen might inspire you to carve out your own winter rituals.

Sending love and a gentle reminder to rest well this season,
